Focus on Patient Cross-Border Rights

In November 2008, the European Commission proposed a Directive on the application of patients’ rights in cross-border healthcare.  This move was welcomed by COCIR which believes that it will improve patient empowerment, encourage data sharing and best practice exchange among Member States and therefore improve healthcare and its long-term sustainability in Europe.

COCIR made six recommendations in its contribution to the consultation process  and will continue to share its expertise in contributing to the development of the proposed Directive which is currently passing through the legislative process.
