COCIR welcomes the Restriction of Hazardous Substances or RoHS review text agreed by the European Commission and currently circulated to the European Parliament and the Council for consideration. COCIR further discussed with its partners Eucomed and EDMA and decided to have a joint paper to provide an executive summary of healthcare industry feedback on the current EC draft. This is a crucial moment to express the recommendations from the healthcare industry as medical devices were exempted from the first version of the RoHS Directive. The removal of this exemption should be sensitively monitored in order to avoid disruption of the supply of equipment designed mainly to save citizens lives.
