COCIR Plays A Leading Role in Copenhagen

As in previous years, COCIR actively participated in the EU’s eHealth Week which took place under the Danish EU Presidency in Copenhagen. COCIR and its members were represented in various activities including the well-attended COCIR session which focused this year on patient care management. COCIR also presented in the CIO Track as well as in the Diabetes Track.

Europe recognises that we need to continue our collective efforts towards the best use of ICTs to speed up economic recovery and lay the foundations of a sustainable digital future. It is essential that we concentrate on actions to remove the current obstacles and focus on maximising the potential of ICTs in healthcare.

Although eHealth is considered to be a contributing factor in boosting the economy and increasing the sustainability of healthcare systems in Europe, its deployment remains limited in Europe. This is why COCIR launched this week the new edition of the COCIR eHealth Toolkit concentrating on the benefits of cloud computing and interoperability and sharing intelligence on the eHealth market.

Nicole Denjoy, COCIR Secretary General said, “eHealth is all about connecting people and empowering citizens to take control of their own health. It remains key to learn from best practice and work collaboratively on the concrete deployment of eHealth solutions. This will only be possible if all actors work together. While facing the economic crisis, we should be smart in optimising the use of EU Structural Funds for better and faster deployment of eHealth at country and regional level.”
