Brussels, 24 June 2020: The first meeting of the Stakeholder Cybersecurity Certification Group (link) is being held today, organised by the European Commission along with the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA). COCIR is pleased to have been selected as a member of this Group, which is a recognition of the sectoral expertise within the association and its vital importance for the healthcare sector. The Certification Group has a formal advisory role, as defined in the Cybersecurity Act.
This newly established Group, together with the European Cybersecurity Certification Group - which is composed of Member States’ representatives - will advise the Commission on strategic issues concerning the European cybersecurity certification framework. The Group will also assist the Commission in preparing the Union's rolling work programme, setting the priorities for defining schemes within the EU cybersecurity certification framework. The mandate of the group is for three years.

Connectivity, confidentiality, integrity and availability of data are essential for the healthcare sector. As increasing numbers of devices, systems and technologies become connected and multidisciplinary teams embrace remote collaboration, cybersecurity considerations are vital in providing safe and reliable care at all times.
COCIR members have long implemented “security by design” principles in the products and services they offer. Any product or service needs to have the necessary security features to be able to meet the complex regulatory demands of a fragmented European market.
Security is not only part of the product design; it is also a shared responsibility. All parties involved must clearly understand that ensuring security requires relevant and appropriate organisation. This can then in turn be supported by product technology.
