As COCIR is the leading industry voice representing Health ICT industries, it was decided to create a specific Digital Health Market Intelligence effort.
Since 1995, the Imaging IT focus group has been collecting PACS (Picture Archiving and Communications Systems) & RIS (Radiology Information Systems) data.
An additional group, called Enterprise IT focus group, was also active in the past and generated data based on IT investment in 12 countries.
Most of those data have only been available exclusively for the COCIR Corporate companies who have decided to finance this effort. However, in 2010 COCIR disclosed some of those data to the public through a report.
A market worth €2.5 billion
The European hospital health ICTs market totaled €2.5 billion in 2010. Moving forward, COCIR anticipates this market to reach €2.7 billion by 2015.
These figures cover ICT solutions used in hospitals in Western and Eastern Europe: administration information systems, clinical information systems, laboratory information systems and imaging information systems (in the field of radiology and cardiology).
