ICT Standardisation

ICT standardisation is addressed in the Regulation on European Standardisation adopted on 4 October 2012.  The Regulation covers new aspects in order to reflect the latest developments and future challenges in standardisation. Among others, the regulation recognises the role of fora and consortia (beyond formal standardisation organisations) in identifying ICT technical specifications that are not national, European or international standards. It also provides for a better use by public authorities of relevant technical specifications when procuring hardware, software and information technology services. This regulation applies since 1 January 2013.

The European Commission has set up in 2012 the ICT standardisation stakeholder platform has to involve the stakeholder.
